Professional Remodelers Experience Profile (PREP) Frequently Asked Questions – (FAQ)
What is the PREP?
The Professional Remodeler Experience Profile (PREP) is an assessment tool for CGR candidates.  It is designed to be an objective measurement of a remodeler’s experience in the following five core areas:
          1)    Marketing & Sales
          2)     Business Administration
          3)   Design, Estimating and Job Cost
          4)  Contracts, Liability and Risk Management
          5)   Project Management

Do I have to take PREP? Why?

Yes, PREP is mandatory for anyone interested in earning the CGR designation.  Your PREP results will decide which courses you need to complete in order to graduate.  Once you have completed the specified courses you become qualified to graduate.

Do I have to complete the CGR Application prior to taking PREP?

No, the sequence is up to you. However, each person must submit a completed application with payment in order to become an officially recognized CGR candidate.

Why would I want to take PREP if I am already a CGR?

Taking the PREP will be educational as it reminds you of methods and procedures that you may have forgotten.  The results will give you a sense of where you might want to obtain further instruction.  PREP counts towards your CGR recertification, as with any CGR course it cannot be taken again for additional credit.

How long is PREP?

You will have 3 hours to complete PREP and it consists of 130 multiple-choice questions. It will be proctored.

What should I bring?
A few #2 pencils.  A calculator and an architect’s scale may be helpful with certain drawings.

How do I study for PREP?

You don’t. PREP is intended to measure your strengths and weaknesses in the five core areas of remodeling business management in order to prescribe your courses of study. The studying begins AFTER you have completed the PREP.
